A Program in Miracles: A Journey to Wholeness

The origins of A Course in Miracles could be followed back to the effort between two persons, Helen Schucman and William Thetford, both of whom were outstanding psychologists and researchers. The course’s inception happened in early 1960s when Schucman, who had been a clinical and study psychologist at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, began to see some inner dictations. She explained these dictations as originating from an internal style that determined it self as Jesus Christ. Schucman initially resisted these activities, but with Thetford’s support, she started transcribing the messages she received.
